BlackMagic Debuts new Cinema Production Camera and Cinema Pocket Cinema Camera

The big buzz on Day One at NAB 2013 comes once again from BlackMagic Design. Definitely not resting on their laurels, they’ve raised their game a couple of notches. At the high end, is the official debut of the Cinema Production Camera 4k. The headline is “4K for $4K” since the camera has true 4k resolution, is built to take existing EF series lenses – and is expected to ship in July at a retail price point of $3995 US.

As exciting as that news was, it was perhaps “undershadowed” by the simultaneous announcement of the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera a Micro Four Thirds lens unit sized to fit comfortably in a pocket or purse boasting a 16mm 1080 sensor and RAW capability with 13 stops of dynamic range.

More revolutionary thinking from BlackMagic.

It’s a great time to be making video.
