XL1 Solutions at NAB 2003

At the National association of Broadcasters 2003 trade show, Canon USA showcased a number of third-party accessories for the XL1 and XL1S. One of these manufacturers is Barrett Bilotta's XL1 Solutions, based in the Boston area. Barrett produces a variety of lens adapters for the XL1 / XL1S which allow the use of a wide range of still-photo and cinematic lenses on the XL lens mount, including 16mm and 35mm motion picture lenses, Nikon and Canon still photo lenses, and others.

Shown here below Barrett's custom viewfinder extension are several Russian surplus motion picture lenses, which can be found relatively inexpensively on Ebay. XL1 Solutions produces the adapters for mounting these lenses to an XL1 or XL1S.

Canon, Nikon 35mm still photo lens adapters by XL1 Solutions. Unlike the Canon EOS adapter (which has a focal length conversion factor of 7.2x), the XL1 Solutions still photo lens adapters will have a focal length conversion of 1.5x to 2x (depending on the lens).
