I do not understand if CCDs are progressive then why JVC converted them into interlaced as final MPEG2 output?

This is a function of the conversion method. Steve would know exactly how to handle this but from what I saw there is no need for conversion as such. The software generates a .mpg all on its own which you can import into almost anything.
