Greetings all,
I'm learning a lot about the 35mm Lens adapters and plan on purchasing one shortly. I have a question about lenses. I notice everyone talking about primes and not much talk about zooms. Can zooms be used at all - even when simply set to a single focal length? Is it a sharpness issue? A speed or focusing issue? I have a several zooms with my primes and would like to know if they too can be used in this way.

Thanks in advance,
Dave Durham

Nothing wrong with zooms except that compared to primes they're bigger, heavier, slower, exhibit more flare and distortion, are less sharp and more expensive. You can see why in this game they're not popular.

At risk of being deemed a bit of a blowhard - I suggest you might try this thread :-

Tom, thanks, I had forgotten about flare - something I try to use to my advantage in SLR work but typically would be undesirable in video.

Bob, thanks for the link - it helped a lot.

I appreciate both of your fast knowledgeable responses.
