I'm looking at used legs and wanted to check with you guys before I throw down some cash. I've got a vx2000 with bogen 3130 head & 3011 legs. Its not as stable as I would like and with a crappy friction head. It usually doesn't matter because I primarily use my tripod for interviews so i don't pan or tilt. I was hired to video a dance performance in June and wanted to be able to do smooth pans. I also figured if i could do a good job i might be able to line up more of this work.
I'm planning on getting a new bogen 503 head. I was wondering if you could give me some input on whether they look acceptable and are a fair value. Is it over kill to spend $200-300 on legs if I'm only using a $250 head?
