RED Digital Cinema won the Award for Innovation In Media for Content Creation, which is sort of like a "best in show" award from NAB. Congrats to Jim, Ted and the whole team!

It was also front page news in the hardcopy edition of the NAB2006 Daily News. I picked up one as I was leaving NAB on Wednesday afternoon. I walked down the hall reading it with a big smile. The real cool thing that you didn't mention Chris, but that the NAB News article pointed out, and I quote:

"When it comes to cutting-edge technological innovations, attendees at NAB 2006 know a good thing when they see it. After exploring the reaches of the show floor, NAB attendees cast their ballots and made their voices known about which products at NAB 2006 deserve to be honored with the annual NAB Awards for Innovation in Media (AIM), the only NAB awards solely decided by NAB attendees."

The point is that this was an award voted on by thousands of NAB attendees, a generally tech-savvy audience who were at NAB to check out the latest equipment. The people have spoken. The interest is definately huge. The reaction to RED was obviously quite favorable.

NAB Awards for Innovation in Media (AIM), the only NAB awards solely decided by NAB attendees.Ah-hah. How about that! Nope, I was not aware how those awards are chosen, and Mike C. didn't mention it either. Thanks for the clarification Steve! It was great to see you in Vegas,

Well done team RED- and keep a tight grip on that sensor until the camera ships. I'd hate to see Sony buy out the sensor's manufacturing Co.!

Every time we walked past the booth and saw Frederick's impassioned presentation, the throng of almost reverent onlookers (lotta Panny/Sony badges!) and Jim off in the back casually sipping his soda, you could feel the excitement. That was a major milestone, the start of a sea change that's going to rock this industry. Hat's off to all of the RED crew this week. Great work!

I got interested in this knowing of Jim's fanatical devotion to detail, he's truly a maniac for quality and his "other" business bleeds it! Didn't have the chance to do it in person, but Jim, thanks _so_damn_much_ for your shoes, I've worn the same pair for the past 5 years day in and out and they're still in incredible shape - absolutely bomb-proof. You guys have the Big Boys redoing their spreadsheets! Go to and God speed!
