Canon HV10 - HDV editing, archiving, output tips.

I'll expand this over time as a one-stop site for the HV10 for those that are getting started and don't want to hunt through pages of posts.

For general consumers using this camcorder for fun but wanting to know whats important.

Comments welcome =)

Some good general tips there, nice to see lots of stuff in one location.

In your editing section though, on bullet point 2, you write "INTERPRETED" where I think you meant "interpolate".

Very informative.

Thank you very much. Looks like this will save me the headache of figuring out how to get my HD footage onto a DVD with relative quality intact.

Again thank you!

Site bookmarked.

Well, being the ham I am sam, I had to try and see if I could mix dry lubricant tapes in the HV10 without problems.

Sadly, no!

I had used Panasonic tapes exclusively prior to trying a TDK miniDV tape, and the result? 13 minutes of lost video as the tape got partially stuck/damaged/wrinkled during recording/playback. As a result, I couldn't play back the video properly (for the first 13 minutes, the rest of the tape was fine), and I had to run a Panasonic dry tape head cleaner through it to clear out the head clog that resulted from using two different types of dry lubricant tapes.

My site has been updated with photos of the bad tape =(

So for those reading these forums and seeing how people can run 1 type of tape successfully all the time, and some people having trouble running multiple types of tapes -- don't do this! Make sure you run 1 type of tape all the time, or you'll get mangled garbage like I did!
