Watching Laszlo Kovacs work.

After reading the biography in ASC a few months ago about Laszlo I decided it was worth watching a few of his movies which I hadn't seen in years and years. Say Anything. Ghost Buster. Easy Rider and so on. I couldn't help but notice how pure he keeps things, how his films flow and draw you in, how he the story comes first.
His work was so so good you had to take time to "notice" it was good.
I turned the sound off for the last half of Say Anything just to keep from being drawn into the story and focus on his elegant but simple style.
Definetely found a few new ideas for my own work.
I highly recommend watching any of Kovacs films for budding filmmakers.
It probably is a travesty a man of his talent did not recieve more recognition.

Well said Matt.

Sound off is an excellent method for studying any film.

I was blessed with the opportunity to meet and chat with Laszlo one time, in Hollywood on the Paramount lot in the summer of 2005. It was a simple, humble conversation but one I'll never forget. His body of work is definitely worth studying by any serious student of film.

Thanks for posting this,
