My dog chewed the power cord for my charger...

... does anyone know where I can find the power cord that powers the CA-920? i don't want to spend $110 on a whole new unit if I can get the cord. I looked on eBay but didn't find anything that met my search criteria. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Corey, try this. I'm pretty sure it's a match. If not, $7 isn't much to lose.

I didn't do a search for your actual cable, such as Chris did, but this is a place with astonishingly good prices.

Prices are great there Jack, but I didn't see his cable on their AC page:

Similar but it won't work. That one's called a figure-eight or a roundy-round. Power cords for the Canon XL and other series camcorders are roundy-square. Compare the photos below.

Yup. I just wasn't looking, or is it seeing.
The CA-920 requires a polarized C7 adapter cable, and my link was to a NON-polarized C7.

Sorry

I lost mine long ago, and ordered a replacement from Canon. I think it was twelve bucks or something. Call them and see.

Awesome. Thanks so much, Chris. Can't wait till this guy is out of his puppy phase... although I should be a bit more careful with where I leave expensive gear.

True story.

I was camping in Colorado. (Working at a Renaissance Festival) Had my tent up on a platform made of old pallets. One morning, I wake up, and find that some critter has eaten a hole up through the pallet and into my tent.

No problem. I cover the hole with duct tape.

Next morning - duct tape is eaten through... and the hole is bigger.

No problem. Patch hole with sheet metal, cover with more duct tape.

Next morning. Hole in different spot... AND

The little bugger has CHEWED through the charging cable for my computer, the connecting cable for my headphones, the charging cable for my Camera, the charging cable for my CELL PHONE!

I kid you not. It was as if the little bastard KNEW how to get back at me. Over a hundred dollars worth of replacement stuff.

Now I'm serious. Not sure what it is ... rat, ground squirrel, chipmunk... whatever. But by golly THIS IS WAR! I spray around the pallet with repellent. I place poison pellets/bait under the tent.

Next morning, I wake up and check the tent floor. Everything looks good. Patches still holding. I'm up and getting dressed when I notice...

ALL of the elastic band in the fitted bedsheet on my air matress has been eaten away. I lift the mattress, and sure enough - there's a hole under it.

I give up - move my pallet and my tent - no more problems.

Hi Richard,

Sounds like you set up camp under Meerkat Manor :)

The critters were probably not happy campers when they realized they had a tent over their roof--yikes!

Yeah, the first night, I realized I had some chips in the tent. They probably smelled the food - but I took it out and sprayed lysol in the tent after that. Never kept anymore food in it. (Stupid in the first place, considering the local bears - but that's another story.)

My dog chewed the power cord for my charger...

Corey, I feel your pain, although it didn't affect me professionally. In our backyard behind our pool, my wife has strung up lights for a nice evening effect. Squirrels that she has been feeding have taken to EATING the wiring! Wife put up a second set of lights only to have the same thing happen again. I wonder what it is about plastic shielding that rodents seem to like???? Is it a delicacy to them??

Found your story amusing, and I had to comment. Loss of equipment is NOT amusing, though!
