R3D to CFHDAVI

I'm trying to work out a workflow from R3D files to CineForm AVI. I've had success with RedCine to DPX through DPX2CF AVIs.

I am hoping to reduce the steps by (when available - apparently soon) importing R3D files directly into Premiere and exporting from Premiere to CFHDAVI.

Does this seem a reasonable hope?

That way will be slowish and still a step too many. With SDK now available we expect direct R3D to CineForm AVI conversion very soon (it is current working pretty well in house.)

Could not be happier to hear that.

Many thanks - I'll wait with bated breath.

Will it convert directly to 4K CF RAW? Has RED fixed the 4096-vs-4000 thing? Does it look like you'll reach 10+ FPS during conversion?

The SDK doesn't yet provide RAW (we are looking forward to that,) as a result it be will slower that RAW to RAW transcodes should be. The 4096 vs 4000 is a FCP limitation, nothing to do with Red. Under Premeire 4096 works fine.

Great information, thanks. I almost guessed that the SDK didn't allow direct RAW access yet, because you would already be done by now if it did. ;)

Giroud, not really related, even the first post mentioned it. There will be plenty for reasons not to use native mode of Premiere, just as there is with every other camera. CineForm is will be more flexible, faster and have a more complete workflow.

David, it occurs to me, if you were ever to be in need of beta testers for the new R3D to CineForm AVI conversion utility...
