3D invigorator in AE

A guy I'm working with has 3D Invigorator in after effects. We're not used to it, and we keep getting these weird problems, but I'm not sure what's going on. In after effects, we have a map of the world, and we're going to be putting pins in the map. The pins were created in 3D invig, but when we put them on the map, they don't seem to respond very well to the camera (we're just using the basic 35mm if that helps). They move around the same way as the map does when we move the camera, but at half the speed. They don't STAY on the map. They kinda slide around. I know that they're in contact with the map because I've checked all of the views. Wehn we zoom in, the pin disappears into the map as well. Do you have any idea why this could be happening? I'm so lost.

ALSO, when we get close enough, the pin will start to disappear, as it does in the 3D building plane (I'm not sure what that's called). It's very irritating.
