Many Canon Printers secretly-equipped for DVD-printing!

If you have a Canon Printer you may be very interested to check this out! (I searched the forum and didn't find it posted already, so my apologies if someone mentions it elsewhere.)

I've had a Canon IP5000 for a few years. Recently I wanted to get a new printer so I'd be able to print directly onto DVDs/CDs... But after doing some research I found out I ALREADY CAN!
Apparently, a great deal of Canon models are hardware equipped for disc printing, but because of a corporate dispute with Philips, Canon pulled the software from their USA-distributed printers and drivers.

This website explains the steps to follow if you want to unlock this feature:

In most (maybe all?) cases you have to buy a disc tray. I got mine on Ebay for like $20 (which included shipping). It wouldn't surprise me if the guy behind the site is the same guy buying trays wholesale from Canon and selling them online. However, it couldn't bug me too much because it essentially saved me over $150 as I definitely needed to print on discs--I'm so sick of "CD Stomper" :P
I figure even if one or two of you benefit from this it's worth the post. Even if I didn't produce DVDs professionally, this is a luxury I always wished I had sooner. --Not to mention I would have hated to find out about this after I'd gotten rid of my Canon and forked over $200 on another Canon solely for the ability to print on discs.

I don't know the story behind the guy who figured this out, but I am surprised he's not shamelessly-promoting himself more than he is. Maybe he wants to stay under-the-radar, as Canon clearly pulled this for a reason. Regardless, I'm here to promote him because I really am satisfied with this. As a professional videographer, this is one of those rare occurrences when you find out the technology you already have is capable of completing tasks you thought it couldn't. How often do you go online in need of new hardware and end up saying "AWESOME!" instead of "eh, that's expensive"? :)
