My website takes 2 minutes to load!
It used to load in 2 seconds. Is this the ISP, a Javascript loop, Hostmonster or something else? Here's a diagnostic:

Why do you have everything on one page? It reminds me of a Geocities page from 1996! :)
Your site looks nice, you just need to split it up into about six pages. That would take care of your load time and site useability. |

Loaded pretty quickly for me. I would agree though that breaking the information up would be a good thing.

The problem might be your pc? Here (on the other side of the globe) your site loads very fast, also your video's play without a problem.

I'll split it up. I just think it's something more than that. I *have* held onto the one page thing for too long.

It took about 20 seconds to load. I tried it on both PCs on my desktop and had the same result.

Dana,
I live in Sweden, here the page loads in about 45 seconds(I have a 24/8mbit connection). My impression is that you are refering to material outside the hosting server? ie. you are linking to video/pictures on another server on the net? The only "big" gfx I can see on the page is the animated title-banner, don't know how large that might be in kb's? // Lazze

Everything is one page and it's using anchor when you click the links.
That's very... odd! I think other users already said it'd be nice to split up.

Hi! I have no problems with opening it. It takes about 5 sec on my 2Mbit.

I read something that said for optimization, put everything on the home page. Bad advice. I'm splitting it up. I'm looking into an Iframe solution to have my videos in the same place, but loading new videos/pages with a next button. Would that help the initial load.
Another alternative is trying (again) to figure out the JW Player playlist. I don't know if that would give me the same loading nightmare because I have a lot of videos.

One of the Hostmonster hard drives "crashed", so several of my sites and all of my email has been down 14hrs now. I thought I was pretty smart switching from GoDaddy. Should I start looking again, or is this a universal possibility with all ISPs?
When it comes back up, I'll have rebuilt my site. Thank you guys for your help!!

A crash is always possible, but 14 hours? That's unbelievable for a national host. I've used 1&1 for years and never had a problem.

Hostmonster server crash
Hostmonster went down again all last night.
Then this morning I find that they have lost ALL MY UPDATES for the last two weeks. I just kissed away 60-80 hours worth of work because they don't backup their servers! A backup every two weeks is PATHETIC for a national company. Even my new email account with them is gone. Any suggestions on a REAL host? (very frustrated)

My site is hosted at Nucleus who have their servers in Belgium, never had a problem and they provide very good service, mails and problems are dealt with within a day. Only the bandwidth is limited so not suitable for my videodemo's and they are much more expensive then Lycos. But since my site never was down and because of their excellent service I stay with them for my site only and I link from that site to the lycos server to show my video's.

I think they offer some referral bonuses for both referrer and referree, so let me know if you want me to look. We use our own co-located server for websites, but I use 1&1 to host the videos because of the generous bandwidth. |
