2 Cameras Filming Side by Side

Has anyone tried filming with two cameras side by side to get better picture quality with a super wide frame? I saw a short shot like this that looked amazing...only problem was it was not "fine tuned" (you caould see the split in certain shots).

Not quite what you're talking about, but "300" used a very interesting technique detailed here (http://digitalcontentproducer.com/mi...deo_step_step/) rolling film on three cameras, using a wide, a medium, and a macro lens.
