Laptop for editing HDV

I've read that the core2duo chips are faster than the old dual cores. Right now I'm editing HDV on a 2.8G dualcore but I also need a laptop that's fast enough for editing hdv. What is the recommended minimum speed?

I'm thinking of a PC based laptop, but suppose I would want to buy a Apple laptop for this task. Which Apple laptop can you reccomend?
