Dark MPG

Hello!
I shot some car show footage, and did a quick edit on 4.2X. (I have the 4.5 upgrade, just haven't installed it yet.)

The source footage, and workfiles look properly exposed. I used PCE VCD setting to create .mpg to u/l to YouTube. The resulting file is considerably darker than the original footage. Higher output resolutions like DVD and HD look great.

Is this just a fact of life with the file compression, or are there some encoder settings I should tweak? Or should I 'color enhance' the project and try creating a new .mpg?
Thanks!
