Simple Edius question

Greetings, I am attempting to duplicate a Canon-specific AVCHD implementation problem in multiple NLE's to prove to them it's their problem and not someone else's. Since Edius is a well respected NLE, I chose it and hope someone can answer a simple question for me.

After opening a .mts clip, I can see the first frame of the video clip in the preview window, but I don't see the accompanying audio wave. I need to scroll to the end of the timeline and visually inspect the actual wave sample itself. Can someone please tell me how to do this?

TIA

I'm afraid your description of the problem doesn't help much. Do you add the file to the bin, then double-click it to open in the preview window? I can't understand what you mean by "I don't see the audio wave". If you opened it on the preview window, you should see video and hear audio. Also, how does the need to scroll to the end of the timeline occur and how did the audio sample get there if you only open it in the preview window?

I only have to guess that by "end of the timeline" you're referring to the end of the video on the preview window. The timeline is the multiple video and audio track window (1VA, 2VA, 1T 2T, 1A, 2A etc). If you want to actually see the audio waveform, you have to mark your clip with in and out points inside the preview window and then add it to the timeline, on one of the VA tracks. Apart from that I haven't really understood what is it that you actually want to do.

Finally I have to guess you're referring to the Edius Broadcast version and not the simple one, right? Please provide more analytical information.

Thanks Themis for the attempt to decipher what I was trying to do. My description probably doesn't make sense because I have no idea what I'm doing in this NLE, LOL!

It appears that a workaround has been established in the forum to deal with Canon's AVCHD implementation so I don't need to confirm the problem exists in Edius, at least at this point in time. Thanks again for your help.
