Is it Worth the $?

Is it worth paying the extra $40 for the turtle based C-stand? What exactly does turtle based mean?

According to the Grip Book, a turtle stands are low base stands used to mount lights low. Basically is just a shorter version of a regular C stand. The taller one also has a "Rocky Mountain Leg" which is adjustable upward. The sliding leg lets you mount the stand on a slope.

Actually the "turtle base" on a C- stand refers to the fact that the bottom portion (where the legs are) can be removed from the rest of the stand. You could in fact mount a fixture real low if you have a "plug" or pin. Having the legs removable is usually easier to pack and travel depending upon your situation.

I say spend the extra $40...well worth it.

any ?'s let me know
