Best Way to change 1080-24F to JVC 720-24P

I am doing a project--an internet action series with short epsisodes--that I am going to shoot using both a Canon XH-A1 and a JVC HD100 (with the 13.5 wide angle lens.)

Besides the original internet version, I want to have video that will look good on DVD--first, standard def, and then later maybe Blueray.

To ease editing, I would like to use the JVC format, using native JVC footage and converting the Canon higher res footage down to match.

First, is this reasonable?
Second, what method should I use to convert the footage (the Canon 1080-24F to JVC 720-24p).

I don't know if it makes a difference, but the JVC footage will be used in all it's natural beauty, whereas the Canon footage is likely to have effects added. The Canon camera will also be used for moving shots on cars, on a Stadicam Merlin with arm and vest, shakey hand-held, etc. The JVC camera will be on a jib most of the time and sometimes the jib on tracks.

I'm trying to get a workflow I can do some tests with. Any suggestions are welcome.

I am working on a PC.

(Note: anybody in the Burbank/L.A. area that would like to help out from time to time and get a little experience, either with video or audio or general production techniques, can email me. There is no schedule yet, but this will be an ongoing project.)

I would probably import your 1080i 24f footage into your NLE and export as what ever codec you are using for you JVC. IF it's not a lot of footage, you can just drop in the footage into your 720p timeline and scale to fit without much of an issue. if you have a lot of footage, your computer will want to smack you for having it do so much number crunching at once. (scaling 1080i and 2:3 pull down to make it 24p footage sucks a lot of CPU power, so you might finding your computer bogging down if you have a lot of mixed footage)
