Tape of Doom

Hello all.

I am working on a shoot at a game reserve super fun and all but we have a problem. One of the cameras. ( sony HDR FX-7 ) is recording tapes that are only viewable in fastforward.
I have tried a tape to tape dub and cleaned the heads on the offending machine. The tape to tape dub produced nothing but blue. There are the occasional dropped frames but still no image. Any suggestions for me to get the data off the tape? right now i would be happy with anything! Is this problem genrally caused by filthy heads or is there something more wrong with the camera ? it just seems very odd that the tape works in all settings but play!

thanks for the help

cheers

Jennie

If u take the tape and play it on a old camera(ex:pd series or pc)it could happen(happened 2 me twice).Did u use a TDK tape?I suggest to have the playback on the camera where u recorded it!

If the heads of the camera that recorded the tape are out of alignment, then what you describe would happen when playing the tape back on another deck. The only way to play it back would be to use the camera that recorded it as a player.
