Head cleaning ?

Just wondered what everyone thinks here. When should one clean the heads on a camera ? after how many tapes or hours used ?

I clean my camera heads about every 20 - 50 hours of tape, depending on how I've been using the camera. My VTRs see head cleaners less often as they are indoors all the time although if I ever HAVE to mix tapes (client supplied video for example), I clean the heads IMMEDIATELY afterward.

Hi, Shaun!
That's exactly the question I've been wanting to ask: If I clean the heads with a head cleaning tape from what you said I understand that it is safe to transfer my production to another brand tape, yes?

Recently I've become a bit disappointed by my TDK tapes and am looking for a replacement brand to check out if it's the tape or the camera to blame, but I don't want to screw up my cam in the process.
