analogue harddisk recording

I was wondering if there is something like a harddisk recorder which records an anologue signal. So something like a firestore but instead of firewire in, analgue in.

The idea is to record liveswitched multicamera registration to a harddisk. (if that is possible to begin with, and to expensive)

We use a blackmagic system to record analogue HD to an array - it works really well.

how does that work? Do you have to bring a complete computer (or laptop) along to do that?

Thats pretty much it. Its a small custom built computer with a raid array and custom codec. Its not ideal by any stretch of the imagination, but worth a shot if you can be bothered.

I have 3 of the nNovia A2D recorders. They work great.

What is your application?

Chasecam.com has a MPEG solid state recorder. I've used one on a race car where the vibration was too much for the nNoiva recorders I normally use. It worked well for the harsh environment but the video quality was a bit lower than the nNovia. Still usable though.
