JVC HD100 match with HVX200A?

I currently own a JVC HD100 and use it for mostly wedding videography business. When I needed B cam, I used JVC HD10 which isn't very good. No matter how hard I tried to color correct and improve the images, they look pretty inferior comparing w/ HD100...

I do both SD and 720P shooting, so I wonder if any of you have done....will SD and 720P of HVX200A look similar with JVC HD100?

HD100 isn't very good at some wedding receptions and church ceremonies where they aren't many lights. Sometimes even I used 100 watt on camera light w/gain on +6db, some images still look dark. I heard HVX200A is great on low light....

Thanks!

I suspect they could be matched with a lot of CC'ing in post. But the bottom line is you're mixing two quite different formats. In this case 100 megabit DVCPROHD vs. 25 megabit HDV. That's going to require a lot of extra rendering in post just to get both to live on the same timeline- depending on your NLE and your system specs. Also you'll be looking at difficulties in post of not having 1:1 comparable scene file settings and f-stops etc. That said- if you don't expect the footage to look identical A:B comparison it's not an impossible dream. If you do however, best thing to do would be get two identical cameras. Like dump the JVC and get two HVX200A's or vice versa.

Hi Noah,

Thanks for sharing with me...I would like 2 of HVX200a, but it is out of my budget right now. I am using FCP for editing. Normally, I used MPEG Streamclip to convert my 720P footage from HD100 into MOV file, so I edit them flawlessly in FCP. I wonder if I edit these footage with the 720P footage from HVX200a, I should edit the footage from these two cameras flawlessly in the same timeline. Hope it works, it would be perfect for me.

Thanks
