I see that the price for the full version of the 2nd edition is $29.95. I'm wondering if there is an upgrade price for registered owners of 1st edition. :)

You're already getting an upgrade because the new edition is nearly twice the number of pages from the old one, plus there's an included DVD packed with video clips and software. Well worth the full price even for first edition owners. I bought mine for $25 at NAB and was happy to put the money down.

Geez Robert, if you'd just come to Honolulu last week for the HDV event, you'd have saved 5.00! :-)

Seriously, the NAB price is 24.95, that price ends next week.
That said...hold on for a week or so if you can, we *might* have something special for HDVInfo.net folks.

I was just teasing about the "upgrade price"-- a riff on all of our favorite software vendors.
For the record, I thought your first edition was worth it's weight in gold and I am looking forward to reading the new one. People like me have to slowly, painfully, pick up and assemble info bit by bit on these forums and chats. For you guys to take the time to learn, organize, and make available all of this cutting edge technical information in book form is a major contribution. I hope you sell lots and lots of books, so that you will be encouraged to keep on writing.

Thanks, Robert. Spot, Mark Dileo, and I all spent a lot of time with the cameras, NLEs, and add-ons (and more), along with extensive research, to give you all the best book possible. If you liked the first one, you'll love this one.

Am new to HDV (recently got a Canon XHA1) and was wondering if this book would be helpful even though it doesn't include a discussion of the A1?

Yes, because we cover the XL H1, which is VERY similar to the G1 and A1, with some obvious exceptions (A1 and G1 don't have removable lenses, A1 doesn't have a jack pack).
