Lenses and looks

I’m looking for books and sources that will inform me the effects of using different lenses, focal lengths and filters and how to use them to create the DOF and looks I am trying to imply when shooting.

I want to get the most out of using 35mm lenses with the adaptor and learn which lenses will work and how to use them. Also how to use filters such as the ND filters and when to use them.

Any help will be much appreciated

Thank you
