Yes, Reds are available for rent. Currently, sounds like you need to have someone in the crew who's used to the camera and the workflow to get the best results.

If you give your location, someone may know of a RED close to you.

I think I'm going to make it mandatory for people to fill out their Location profiles.

I got a sheet from Picture This in Portland, OR a few months ago:

Base Package:
* RED ONE Camera Body
* RED Zoom
* RED Monitor
* 3 8GB CF cards
* Dual charger/Power supply
* 3 140Wh batteries
* 2 18" rails & 2 12" rails
* 2 universal mount, side handle, top mount
* 19mm to 15mm adapter
* Adapters and cables
DAY RATE: $1,100

Additional Accessories:
* Sachtler 25 tripod
* Matte box/filters
* Arri follow focus
* Microforce zoom
* Red 300mm f2.8 (soon)
(no price listed.)

This sheet is a few months old, so it's subject to change.

I'd be curious to know if these prices are typical.

thats an " in the ball park price," we send more cards or you can upgrade to the harddrives, and we send more batts with our base package. We also give you the option of the Red LCD , the viewfinder comes with the camera.

Yeah, that's odd. The monitor is standard, and the viewfinder isn't mentioned.

Then again, the info was brand new at the time. I expect they'll tweak the package, depending on demand.

Given the RED's power demands, you'd really want to have 6 batteries (which appears standard with any HDCAM cameras I've rented) with the camera kit and the capability of charging 4 batteries.

Last I checked, Picture This had lowered the price on their Red Package to $850.
