RED 18-85mm zoom

After a long development process, we finally have our 1st two 18-85mm zoom prototypes finished. They are fresh sheet of paper designs, T2.9, just over 10" long, less than 10 lb., very sharp, no breathing and available after NAB in feet or meters... for $9975.

Wow, although expensive by "DV" standards, that is a great range for filmmakers and about a fifth the price of a Zeiss or Cooke zoom.
Will you have one or any footage to show at NAB Jim?

It would be great to discuss possibilities of RED and the University of Michigan Video Studio collaborating in the near future.

i had the 18-85 (#458) reserved, but of course it was not available in time to be delivered with my camera, so i purchased the 18-50mm instead--which i'm very fond of. the macro feature is really quite nice and under-utilized, in my opinion.

so am i still in line? or is the whole idea of a line or waiting period irrelevant?

Jim,

Pardon the almost complete non-sequitur, but who does your product photography? You have some of the most compelling (OK, sexy) product photography I've ever seen.

I mean, it helps that your gear is sort of the Sophia Loren (impossible to get a poor photo of her) of this genre, but you photograph it beautifully.

Although, it does lack the most beautiful part of a lens: the glass.
