Is there a work around for PPC PowerMac G5s?

Hello all,

I am thinking about purchasing a Scarlet. Is there a work around for the PPC macs? If I absolutely need a Intel mac is it possible to use a Mac Book Pro?

Thinking about purchasing a Scarlet is pretty much all you can do at this point since it isn't available for sale yet, but the answer is yes, an Intel-based Mac Book Pro will do the job.

I thought I already did that, but just to clarify, RED states that the minimum system requirements are an Intel 2.0 GHz Dual Core processor (or better).

The software won't work, and i don't see them making a power pc port. I'd say you're most likely out of luck. You'll need to think about buying a new mac as well as buying a theoretical scarlet camera.

You'll need to think about buying a new mac for just about *any* Ultra-High Def acquisition format.

Wow- yeah I think in another year or two we'll see PPC dropped on the OS level but maybe not. Still we've had what 3 years now to make the switchover to Intel? I'm on my second Mac Pro and my 4th MacBook Pro.

uh ?? well , my old dual 2g processor powermac works great with my z1 running fcs 5.04 using fw800 drives . I guess that's not ultahigh def. However the same problem exists with the avchd cameras. At some point you just have to stop and say it's enough. With Photoshop , I said cs is enough . I don't need to keep pumping the banks for new software , and hardware. However Scarlet has changed all of that , to my chagrin . It's the only camera , still or moving that has provoked my interest in more than 3 years , and though I would like to NOT purchase another computer to use it , I would , if it finally sees the light of day.k
