Still Image Quality at 4K
I understand how vague the answers may be on this. And considering the variety of shooting conditions and camera settings maybe it's a stupid question but... under some fairly ideal shooting conditions are the still image outputs at 4k decent enough to print 5x7. Wait! I'll define "decent". Decent = good enough that it's not plainly obvious to the layperson that the source was video.
Could someone post a link?

I'm not sure what you're looking for but Mike Curtis posted a really thorough examination of the image quality of the Red One here: http://www.hdforindies.com/labels/Spain.html

I would think a 4K, 12MP frame is probably overkill for a 5x7 print... it should look fine at 8x10 or 11x14 even. Just consider the differences in aspect ratios and how you would crop the image (or not).

If it's 4 to 3 ratio then the 12mp still grabs should be sufficient to print 20x30". It will depend on using higher shutterspeeds . If I was shooting for grabs that's what I'd do . k

It actually looks pretty good printed up to a certain size. I'm not sure I'd go 20x30 but then again it depends on many factors. How well it was exposed, what quality of optics used etc. We used a RED to capture all the stills for a print campaign not too long ago. Worked out pretty well. Now of course it's not going to beat a really high end shot from a Nikon or a Canon DSLR- especially in terms of grain and image compression if shot RAW but definitely not bad in a pinch.
