Remote for H1 or A1

Hello,

Is anyone aware of any remote controllers for these camera's which
specific has a good control of zoom ?

Could you be a bit more specific about "good control of zoom"?

I can't really comment as I don't know what you mean by "good".

I have used the Zoe controller with my XL-1 and now with my XL H1. Works "great" and also can go remote start/stop, focus and power on/off.

There are also extension cables for use with jibs.

Thanks alot, have checked out both Varizoom and 16x9. Looks to me 16x9 is more ergonomic friendly. I basically want to attach it to a Merlin but sofar havn't found the arm for it...

Hi Henrik,

The Merlin looks like a great bit of kit - BUT I think it is probably too light for the H1. I have just bought a stabilizer kit from bargain-camera.com - the Glidecam Pro 4000 which is in the weight category for this camera and even with this one I am certain I am going to have to buy the body vest and arm for support - it's not a one hand operation that the Merlin can be.

If you are dead set on a Merlin try to get to a shop and fit it to the camera and try it first as I don't think it has enough counterbalance facility.

Dave,

Much appreciated your advise. What attracts me about the Merlin
(after seeing some stunning steady shots) is the lightness together with
it's simplicity. It just looks like a whole lot easier than the Glidecams 2000 or
4000. I'm aware the H1 is more than 8 lbs with lens and battery, I somehow dont think I will need the H1 for uncompressed output just yet and will probably
opt for the A1 instead. There the Merlin should do the trick even with an
additional weight (as far as I can read). I think somehow that although rather
expensive that the arm/vest is a must. I hope you are satisfied with your
equipment.
