Re: C100 and white balance
One issue that the C100 MK1 has that trips up, say, the users of Sony cameras, is that the frame needs to filled with your white or grey target, an that target needs to be in the light that your...

Re: ? about C Log
Be very aware that using ISO BELOW 850 can lower your dynamic range.
Watch your waveform monitor and see the way highlights get pulled down in relation to the shadow details as you use lower ISOs.

re: C100 Mark II -- Mostly About Waveform
Anyone care to speculate on the new recording formats? Specifically the MP4 at 35 Mbits. Now, MP2 at 35Mbits (XDCAM) is pretty close to AVCHD as makes no odds. But MP4 at 35 Mbits sounds like it...

Re: Importing clips from the C100
Kathy, I guess you're using 24p pretty much exclusively?
A while back, I settled with the sort of ham fisted but reliable FCPX 'select all clips and switch to Progressive' for all my 25psf stuff:...

Re: C100 and handholding
P+S Technik recently had a go at redefining the monopod:
ProShot DSLR Rig 1192 (http://www.pstechnik.de/k-tek-proshot/a-1192/)
The trouble with this is, and monopods in general, is that with a...

Re: Replacement for C100
Hi David - the main reason I gave the Long-GOP a bill of health is because I do a lot of long records of people giving presentations.
I do get footage from around the world filmed on many formats...

FWIW, I'm a Canon-L lens slut, I have friends and colleagues who are Ziess hoarders, renters of lens sets. I have lived and died with zoom lenses and have sometimes had to shoot with primes - and was...

Re: Replacement for C100
If the C100 stays at HD rather than 4K, I'm totally cool with that. 50/60p? Clients want that and so do I. Slomo and Intervalometer with slow shutter? Hell yes, that should have been there from the...

Re: C100 with EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM
Nate's experiences and write-up of this lens so neatly sums up my own experience (including the magic working set of 11-16, 17-55 and 70-200), all I could really say is "+1" - yes, it sucks in dust...

Re: Replacement for C100
From my contacts in the retail channel, I hear that the C100 has been a great little performer. Think about it, if you sell 2 C100s for every C300, that's okay. But if you sell 4x C100s for a C300,...

Re: NR with Ninja Blade
This is an interesting question. I've locked antlers with a few folks about this. Here's where my current understanding is at:
1) AVCHD contains noise reduction, or CREATES a sort of pseudo noise...

Re: New Sony FS7 4K XDCAM at Photokina
A tiny snipped I picked up - input is 24 bit at 48KHz, not the usual 16 bit.
I wonder if attaching a K1M (or similar) XLR bridge would allow 4 track internal audio recording?
Hmmm. Hopefully...

Re: C100 cheat sheet
It's a bit of a 'remiss' of me not to have promoted it here.
Hope it's of use to the C100 community. Most of the stuff is no news, but hopefully there's a few gems for exiting users. LOL

Re: 24p vs 24Pf

Re: 24p vs 24Pf
Hmm - interesting about the Ninja Blade and P24.
When I checked the Blade with P24 off the C100, I waited a good 2 minutes to get a lock, and it didn't (even with that patient 'slow waggle') and a...

Re: C100 footage degraded on export
Your footage is fine. It's just the way AVID is interpreting the AVCHD, and it can be fixed quickly.
What you're seeing is Avid misinterpreting the 'Progressive Segmented Frame' flag of the AVCHD...

Re: Additional kit I will need on my new FS100
From my brief time with the FS700, I didn't find the audio I shot to be 'flat' or dull or lifeless, but I sadly never did the same test as I did with the FS100. As an owner of the PD150, PD170, Z1,...

Re: Additional kit I will need on my new FS100
Sorry to be late to the party.
The very first thing you should do is shorten the chimney viewfinder. Doing this transforms it from liability to useful tool. (How to shorten the Sony FS 100...

Scarily blue. This is why I find the Ninja Blade is a 'great little production monitor with a nifty recorder on the back'. My SmallHD AC7 has been feeling a bit underutilised as a result.
I wonder...

Re: FS700 With Macro Lens Issue
Alister's beaten us all to it - yes, it's Moire: you're going into Macro mode, the screen is very high resolution, but at some point the two resolutions are going to interfere.
It's an awful fact...
