Re: New from Canon XA30 XA35
I think the error the person at B&H made in calculating recording time to a 64 GB card is a common one. They are reading (for instance) 25 Mbps and instead of thinking Mega-bits-per-second they are...

Re: Recommended Hard drive size?
Yes I know this is an old thread.
The actual calculation is:
( 50 Mbps / 8 ) = 6.25 MB / sec.
6.25 MB / sec. x 3600 seconds / hour = 22.5 GB / hour, so my off the cuff estimation was a little...

Re: Just Finished First Wedding With FS100's
the sensor in the EA50 is 23.5 x 15.6 mm (APS-C)
the sensor in the FS100 is 23.6 x 13.3 mm (Super35mm)
So you can see there is very little difference between the two formats.
What is different...

Re: Recommended Hard drive size?
Your storage requirement:
At 50 Mbps, each camera will be generating ~26 GB/hour of media.
Worst Case Total storage = 3 cameras X 26 GB/hour X 7 hours = 546 GB
You could get an SSD capable of...

Re: Canon XC10 vs. Sony RX10-II
The lighter weight of the Canon XC10 is likely a byproduct of the slower and hence lighter lens. On top of that, the Sony camera has an EVF.

Re: raw image size 16MBs
I would check what aspect ratio your camera is set to shoot stills in.
To get the full 16 MPixels, you need to be shooting in 4:3, the native aspect ratio of the sensor.
If you select 3:2 (35mm...
