Re: Which SDI cable?

LOL. Boy, already six years since I posed on this thread.

Doug is correct that short runs of regular coax won't have any problem.
It comes down to those LONG runs over 100ft-300ft that you will...

Re: Nab - viva lost wages! Role call

You have a gig in Vegas during NAB?
Cool - that works out nicely! Hopefully you won't be beaten to death - twice! <grin>

And Dylan, yeah, we're all getting a ways down the trail - if you get my...

Re: Low light nature video in HD

Yup - the near pinnacle of Sony's offerings.
I sure wouldn't want to haul an F65 up a mountain or into a jungle.

What is your go-to long lens?

Re: Low light nature video in HD

Speaking of needing a good camera for wildlife videography . . .

I was watching some amazing wildlife videos on PBS and every once in a while they'd show the camera.
Gee, an Arri Alexa w/ an...

Re: Best ever noise isolating headphones? The Remote Audio HN-7506

Those Sennheisers look amazing - but I got some serious sticker shock at $900.
I am sure you get what you pay for and their ability to set the bass to one's liking has me wanting to listen to them.

Re: NAB Survival -- Is It The Shoes?

Yes, the shoes are an absolute must.

I love the idea of two pairs, but simply don't have the room what with the airlines charging big fees for bags.

I am thinking about some padded runners...

Re: NO 4K HDMI out on C300MKII?

It looks like we are going to reluctantly go with the Sony FS7.
After surfing around, it turns out that the FS7 does output 10bit 4:2:2 over SDI and HDMI.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but It is a...

Re: 3D and Lighting

Hmm. So, you have an object (actor(s)?) in the center of a still camera array?

Those lights you mention will cast sharp shadows, but I am wondering why you want perfect flat lighting?

And how...

Re: Reality Sets for Chroma Key

My two nickels,

I think there is going to be a good market for VR and chroma key sets in the years ahead.
There is need for something akin to quicktime, a format that enables the camera/viewer to...

Re: Meeting Chris Hurd at NAB

Hmm, about the iMac. I don't know if you have apple care, but I think your computer has a video card issue. I would take it in for repair and show the guy at the store what is going on. It ain't...

Re: NO 4K HDMI out on C300MKII?

Thanks Gary. I stand corrected. I either I heard the Canon rep wrong or was given the wrong info.
Strange, because I would not come up with quadHD out on two bncs on my own - but no matter.
And, I...

Re: NO 4K HDMI out on C300MKII?

Oh, but we were close to going with the Sony FS7 - and still might (argh!).
For the price, it is imo a great value and Sony is selling tons of them.

In our testing, The FS7 was not as good/clean...

Re: NO 4K HDMI out on C300MKII?

And we probably will have to - again, this because a $16,000 body can't do what a $1200 dinky does already.

Re: NO 4K HDMI out on C300MKII?

And AJA makes a recorder box that will do the same.

The point is this is an expensive camera.
Canon has 4K HDMI out on their $1200 model.
WHY can't they do as they should be able to do and...

NO 4K HDMI out on C300MKII?

Last summer Canon was great and brought out a C300MKII for us to test in our UofM studio.

It is an amazing camera, and after months of haggling with my colleagues and the bean counters,
we are...

Re: Which SDI cable?

Personally I would go with the BH recommendation.

We run Canare and Belden cable and found them to be rock solid when using HDSDI.

Re: RED Raven vs URSA Mini 4.6K vs Kinefinity Terra 6K

Okay - I just rolled in from NAB 2016. I was able to take a good long look at the URSA mini and Raven.
Kinefinity - I must have strolled right by them - apologies. I do see from their website that...

Re: RED Raven vs URSA Mini 4.6K vs Kinefinity Terra 6K

There are many factors when making comparisons. No one camera is right for everyone.
Price is always one of the prime factors, yet one needs to consider more than just price.
For me there is ROI,...
