-------Wow alain static sure is the way to go. Couple things in this picture http://www.kheops-tech.com/~ad3d/IMG_2110.jpg
it looks like your uv filter is connected to some other irregular shaped box can you tell us what that is?-------

I used the lens of a optex magnifier ( 7X Oversized Magnifier, there is 3 or 4 size available.)
and this is the part on top that I remove to get acces to the lens itself.
The other thing is there is no uv filter there ,I just keep the ring to screw to the camera

-----------Also in this photo http://www.kheops-tech.com/~ad3d/parts2.jpg what is the piece you are holding at the bottom left? Last thing i heard a lot of people use fresnel lenses to concentrate the incoming light on the gg do you use that too?-----------

this is the same piece but top view so we can see the magnifier lens.

Very understandable now Alain so you glued the blank filter to the 7x "macro" which magnifies onto the GG which in this case is another uv filter grinded down from there you found the focal point and figured where to put the slr. Correct me if i am wrong. I am working on the same sort of static adapter only i am going to use the GG from an old zenit, thanks to Daniel for his tests. The hardest part is getting it out of this tank!

aldu 35 parts issue

Dear Alain,
great work and a big step for poorman's 35 system
correct me if i am wrong,
1/the 7X magnifer is actually for your VX2000 as close up lens, if a camera is capable of marco is not necessary.

2/static GG is good and 7hr to make is worth it, but any other alternative ?

3/ what is the size u actually capture on the GG? say mini35 captured only 16x22mm.

4/ u may say i m insane! anyone try to mount a condom as GG?thin and smooth!!!

cheers

>>>1/the 7X magnifer is actually for your VX2000 as close up lens, if a camera is capable of marco is not necessary . . .

I believe you still need it even if your camera has macro. This was a question way back on page 9 of the Agus thread when someone with a GL2 asked the same thing.

>>>2/static GG is good and 7hr to make is worth it, but any other alternative ? . . .

Good question. Most of the "How to grind your own glass" tutorials on the web say that you can get a quality ground glass in 15-20 minutes. Does it really take 7 hours????

>>>3/ what is the size u actually capture on the GG? say mini35 captured only 16x22mm.

I don't know the answer to this question, but a Century Optics rep over at dvxuser.net said you would want to match a size comparable to still frame 35mm, meaning you would want to use a still 35mm lens, not a movie lens which is actually smaller than still. This is due to getting a shallower dof with still on our small ccd cameras and it's much cheaper. . Any thoughts on this?

I like the condom idea. Someone should test this out.

What kind and size of alluminiun oxide did you use >? so you started from smaller to higher values, what is the process ? the one that you put one glass over another ?

I say 5 to 7 hour , but it take me four hour's whit a couple of brake because I am not patient, I prefer to take a longer brake after.
it depend .

The very first thing that I try is a roscolux diffuse filter and it's pretty interessting but you can see the grain.

Todd

The first step take me about 30 minutes, 1hrs and a half hour for the 2nd grade and at this point I have the same quality of a Chinon slide projector and it's not enought. Then something happen , probably a small piece of broken glass go thrue my two glass
and make a beautiful scracth so I have to get back to step one again, then two and three.

And the third step is the longuest one,the oxyde loook like flour.

I have read that some have try whit other kind of GG and doesn't have good result so obviously 4 to 5 hour's was what guive me this. So if there is better way please tell me.

120
300
500 ,the bigger the number the smaller the grain, the smaller one are like flour. The goal is to have a gain that is smaller than the ccd can see.
