Anyone who is able to simplify the process into steps, please post below.

Seth, as the new guy, you're cursed with having to catch up to everyone else. Since this is a 100% homemade project, there are no right and wrong designs and will vary from person to person. Hopefully one will soon be released for sale, but until then, its up to you to take in a lot of research. That way, you'll see the many features and decide which will work best for you, then design accordingly.

The links Rob provided give basic guidelines to the process to help you start on a solid foundation. After that, its up to you to make an adapter that suits you.
