File naming on the Sony DSR-DU1

Hi - first post...

I have a Sony DU1 hard disk recorder which is fantastic and saves me loads of time on jobs. However, one thing I have been unable to figure out is how to get it to name files differently. At the moment, when I plug it into my Mac, all of the capture files on there are named cap0001.dvd (or something similar - but always exactly the same name for each file) and each one is in a separate subfolder. I end up having to use "Better File Renamer" to give each file a unique name, then copy them into a single master folder. It just seems a really daft, inefficient way of doing things - why would it not just give each capture file a unique name to start with?

So I wanted to know if anyone on the forum has experience of using this unit and if they have got around this problem.,

Thanks
