using a firewire splitter with V1U, DR60 and laptop

Does anyone have any experience about potential problems if splitting the firewire signal from a V1U with a 1394 splitter/hub? I want to record to a DR60 drive, but also monitor the video on a laptop running Magic Monitor software.

Thanks.
