Ahoy from Springfield,

As my username cites- My name is indeed John Murphy. I'm a 19 year old aspiring filmmaker and or screenwriter. I don't necessarily know what I'm supposed to put it in here so I'll just make a brief irregular statement.

I have been writing since I can remember and have two full length and three one act screenplays all "finished". I recently had a revelation in my brain... "Everytime I hand my script off to someone else to do... it comes out nowhere near how I wanted it done. You should probably do it yourself."

So I scraped together some cash, keep in mind I live in my own apartment, go to college, and unfortunately work at a Best Buy, so I'm pretty much broke... and decided on an XH-A1. (I got it like 5 days ago) So I've just been figuring out how to make movies that don't look like crap while figuring out what kind of accesories to buy. This camera is also the reason I had to decide between food or gas in my car :(

I am uncertain of film school but am pursuing a career in the writing field since it's pretty much all I know how to do. I'm quite happy a random google adventure lead me here as this is probably the most informative forum I have ever witnessed.

Welcome and congrats on the camera. My first was a Sony VX1000 ten years ago and I haven't looked back since. And regarding food vs. gas: trust me, it all comes together sooner or later.

welcome. The XH-A1 is a great choice (I have one). You'll really enjoy working with the camera.

I recommend getting a good fluid head tripod, a light kit, and a good microphone.
