Matterport 3D VR

So there's this cool "virtual tour" of the Panasonic booth at NAB2018:

https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=fHePCyhoNMH

You can move through the whole booth by clicking on hotspots. I've seen this sort of thing before, so I'm wondering how it's done. Seems like it's perfect for real estate listings, for example. Is it strictly a third-party service that does this, or is it non-proprietary?

Thanks Brent,

Guess I just didn't dig deep enough. Thanks! Went to https://matterport.com and have to say I'm really taken by it.

I’ve used the panellum library, which uses some javascript and webgl to let you switch 360 views using image tags in the currently viewed scene. Never tried the zoom effect.

re: Matterport 3D VR

I have the Yi 360VR camera which I have been playing around with and just put 4 pictures of a hotel suite that I visited into the free account that I opened with eyespy360.com. Good fun to play with simple ideas and can be upgraded to a monthly plan for a bit more sophistication.

The 4 pics ended up in a 5 minute quick test that I did. https://EyeSpy360.vr-360-tour.com/e/EzYBYtsnClY/e

Thread title changed from "Immersive 360 photo with hotspots -- how was this done?"

to "Matterport 3D VR"

There's a lot to see on their site... some amazing locations worth exploring in their gallery at:

Re: Matterport 3D VR

As a side note, my Typhoon H drone has the ability to spin the camera 360 on the gimbal and has a panorama setting that takes a series of pics in all directions, then tilts the camera to repeat the process. It’s not 360 video, though I’ve seen that being done on drones already.

I think it’s going to be the next major leap in imaging as it is getting past the gimmick stage as we speak.

Do a turn about a point and rotate once for stereo.

Yes, they target Real Estate Agents / Photographers / Videographers specifically for sales. Jump onto any Real Estate group and do a search, you'll see discussions pop up.
