Stereoscopic High Speed Photography
Just a quick note, I just released another stereoscopic video short:
http://www.dzignlight.com/stereo/240fps.shtml summary: High speed 240fps stereoscopic 3D digital video of two Toyota FJ Cruisers fording a puddle, and two weapons instructors firing M4 rifles from the Gryphon Group military training facility. Enjoy! -Eric |
looks great!

This is still pretty amazing for stereoscopic 240fps, under $2000. -Eric Eric Deren Dzignlight Studios VFX & Animation Design www.dzignlight.com/stereo +1-404-892-8933 |
"it appears to be more like standard def."
or even worst. i have see it, and imho its only good for web. but yes, 240fps is 240fps. i hope with memory card camcorders, soon we can get HD (or real SD) resolution with high speed. |

Since most playback options for stereoscopic involve progressive, you have to do something with those fields, so I use them to allow me to slow the footage down by a factor of two. Of course, there's a quality hit there, too, but the reality is you'd be throwing those fields out regardless, why not use them to increase temporal resolution? Lest anyone feels like I'm trying to compare this footage to a real rig that costs over $6000 a day to rent... remember, it's just a US$2K rig TOTAL COST. Don't expect too much. Watching stereoscopic 240fps in low resolution is better than watching a black screen, IMHO. :-) In answer to your question, I think a lot of consumer Sony HDV cameras have this feature now, but the Sony website would be the best place for that information. -Eric |
