big problem with wmv

I am trying to encode a 2880 x 1080 side by side in windows media encoder 9 , but it seems the software just can handle a maximum width about 1920. I did a 1920 x 720 with 1.33 aspect and it worked great, but the 2880 x 1080 encoded in wme9 cannot play in any software. i downloaded a 2880 x 1080 side by side file from nvidia site and it works great. so, what are they doing to get this 2880 x 1080 working????

any advice much apreciated.

wme9 limitation

the wme9 has a limitation in video width, maximum is 2000 pixels, if you try to increase you get an advice (maximum 2000 pixels width). but the nvidia site has a 2880x1080 side by side wmv file for download... mystery...

Then don't use WME, I suppose. Sony Vegas does not have such arbitrary limitations. WME is not a serious professional product, just a freebie toy tossed in to make Windows more appealing to the masses.

What's the mystery? nVidia probably (surely) used something other than WME9 to encode the .wmv on their site.
