If you break the glass in your beamsplitter...

...do you only get 3.5 years of bad luck?

Yeah, but it's in stereo, so you have to multiply by 2 ...

On second thought (as 49 seems rather drastic), since we are going from 2 dimensions to 3 dimensions, perhaps we just need to raise the seven to 3/2, which will produce just eighteen and a half years of bad luck.

3D space has XYZ dimensions, therefore I hasten to suggest it is 7 cubed so, er, mmm, 343 years of dark times ahead....

Oh boy, you'll never get out of that one - bad move, just don't do it!!!
