Moving clip's audio and video to other track?

Hey guys,

I have a video/audio clip in my timeline and all I want to do is grab the clip and move both the video and audio to a seperate track. But when I try selecting a clip and dragging it into a seperate track, either the audio or video wants to stay put in track 1 and overlay, depending on if I start dragging from the video or audio.

Anyone know how I can select a clip and move both the audio and video of that clip to a different track at once? Thanks for any help.

Not quite sure what you mean by "overlay". Presumably you're moving the clip from the track its on, to an empty track, so I don't see where the overlay part of it comes in. Once the clip is on a track, you can:

-move the video to different track, then the audio to a different track.

or

-target a different video and audio track, ctrl v (copy) the clip, delete the clip, then paste the clip (make sure the CTI is at the desired edit point)

or

-target a different video and audio track, then delete the clip and drag it back in to the timeline from the Project or Source Panel. Again, making sure the CTI is at the desired edit point.

I think I can help. It sounds like you are may be moving your video to another track that is above another video track, so when you do that the audio slides along and overlays another audio track. If that is it, just select the clip, right click and "unlink" them. Then you can move the video without the audio moving and then move the audio separately.

Let me know.
