Slowing down footage
 

What is the best way to slow down a clip without it looking, of less quality? I try the speed/duration, but when put to DVD, it looks bad. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would try shooting in a "frame" mode, I think that helps a bit over interlaced if you can. How much are you trying to slow down the footage? I did some tests for the remapping in CS3 and I thought they came out well but I also was only doing things for the web, not a DVD. Unless you are shooting with a high speed camera I think it is hard to expect a full quality slow motion.

The "pixel-motion" interpolation available in AE7+ is much better than Premiere's slow-mo, you just need to make sure it is enabled for both the comp and the layer, for optimum results. Obviously shooting a higher frame rate will get much better results, the data just isn't there if you don't, and the software is merely esitimating.

The effect is time remapping, and you need pixel motion selected as the method. There are tutorials out there, search for either time remapping or pixel motion.
