Rendering for web?

When making a short video for web, say 3-5 minutes what would be the best way to render it.
What format?
What Quality?
What Size?

Shooting HD with a XH-A1 mostly at 60i

It depends. Overall you'll do well to output 720p. If you shot 24p output 24p. You can convert 60i to 24p. It will save you a little space but you could have pulldown issues depending upon footage.

As to codecs, I like Flash and H.264. You might want to do a little trial and error to see what works best for your most critical shots. I output a short SD project using still images via H.264 and it turned it all to mud. Flash did better.

The ultimate decision depends upon your audience. If you're aiming for broadband, you can boost size and data rate. With progressive download you'll want the data rate low enough that the playback doesn't overrun the download speed.

Others might have some numbers for this. I just do trial and error and so far it's worked. YMMV.

Good luck.
