Premiere/Canon GL-1 on Mac

I bought an iMac last April, mainly because I wanted to use it for the CS3 Design Suite for the print design part of my business. I also bought Final Cut Express, thinking it would fulfill my video editing needs.

Wrong! And now I find out that I can't upgrade to Final Cut Pro because it won't run on the iMac's Intel chip, which seems bizarre to me, but that's apparently the way it is.

So, I am wondering if I can use Premiere CS3 on my iMac, earlier versions of which I used for many years on the PC platform.

One key issue is whether I can use my nearly new Canon GL-1 camera to capture. I am now retired and that is the only camera I kept. I understand that I would have to capture to the system drive and then transfer to an external because of some Canon idiosyncrasy, but that would be OK.

I'd appreciate any info on this matter.

Thanks,

Jim
