Technique for a "Rewind" effect
What would be the best way to achieve the effect of the video clip, pausing, and then having the classic oldschool slightly scratchy fast rewind, then picking up the action again. I'm thinking that the rewind part is probly easy ( I just cant find the right effect). Adding the horizontal scratchy lines that many associate with this would be a custom AE thing maybe.
I can mock up the sound effect for it. |
Now I'm using Elements, so my process may differ slightly from others.
Right click the clip in the timeline and one of the options is "Time Stretch." Click on that bad boy and you can change the speed of any clip. Want it 1/2 speed? Type in 50%. Quarter Speed? Type in 25% Full-Reverse? Type in -100% Fast-Reverse? -200, -300 Play around and you'll figure it out... |
just in premiere, you could design a title of the flashy grey lines and then key frame them to flash on and off, as well as the backwards high speed that is described by Will in the previous reply.
Some random opacity changes to the horizontal lines title would also give you your effect. Probably not the best way, but it should work. Good luck |
Here's what I would do:
Record the portion of video of interest to an analog VCR Rewind the recording while capturing the output Hence, you get the real thing and without painful rendering. |
