Still images acting funny - get smaller lose resolution
 

I'm working on a 29.97 16x9 project with HDV Cineform AVI files. I've been having a problem with stills that I can't figure out. I import a still at a decent resolution at an aspect ratio of 1 (square pixels). When I move the clip into the time line, scale it down, and place over a video track, the image will get even smaller once I render and watch back on my timeline monitor. It also appears to lose resolution.

I've tried (via interprit properties) to change the aspect ration to the same as the project. Still the same resullts.

Any ideas?

I use quite a lot of stills in my footage and haven't run into too many problems.

Are you noticing that the drop in resolution clears up once you output the file? I've noticed that the images will look "just ok" while in the preview window, but once I output the final video file I'm very happy with the results.

I don't know about the images changing size after render. Are you right-clicking on the image and choosing the "Scale to Frame Size" option? It doesn't seem to work too well for me. I find it better to use the size controls in the "Motion" properties.

I have used right click, scale to frame size very successfully in all of my videos, as I use stills on quite a regular basis. I just make sure the images are large enough so they scale down and not scale up, which has never been a problem.

I re-worked my image in Photo Shop. The problem has appeared to go away. Perhaps it was a bug of some type. Sorry for the delay getting back to my own post. I appreciate the feedback!
