Frame Rates in Premiere Elements

Is there any way to change frame rates in elements? I recently shot a good deal of footage with my Canon XH A1 at 24 fps, but when I uploaded it to elements, the programs shows the frame rate at 29.97 fps. What happened and is there any way I can change this?

Hi Jake,

The Canon A1 records its progressive in a 29.97 NTSC 60i scheme that will require a pull down. I've done the math and posted the settings for an inexpensive and very good program called TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0 at http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/hdv2-cano...-settings.html. There are several other alternatives you can use to do that you can parse for yourself, some are much more expensive, some are cheaper, but TMPGEnc is the best balance of quality and cost.

While Elements doesn't actually have a 24P timeline, you can make a custom project file that Elements can use that will play and edit the file and keep the attributes.

Advanced editing isn't a hallmark of Elements, however, and something you should consider as you continue on your journey into your project.

My best,

Mike

Thanks Mike, I appreciate it. How can I make a custom project file?

The attached photos should help, new project, new settings, custom, so on...
