How many sequences max?

How many sequences can CS3 Premiere handle or what is the limit? OR how many is too many before the darn prog starts to choke.

In theory, I don't think there's a limit. I also don't think that the number of timelines significantly effects performance. In my experience, what will bog a system down depends upon what you do in a timeline. Effects, color correction, audio processing, multi-cam timelines, etc. will slow things if you have lots of them.

During the summer I'll put together a weekly program with up to 16 multi-cam timelines (for a total of 32 or more) with six hours (or more) of footage and edit it all in SD. No real problems but sometimes I'll have to break up the project into separate projects for each timeline but I think that's related to an audio codec problem I have.

The real answer is that there are a bunch of variables that effect performance and the effect is cumulative. A short HD project with a lot of effects, AE Dynamic Link comps, CC, audio processing and the lot can go all ropey, where a long project with lots of timelines but few effects and lots of footage will work brilliantly. If your system is set up correctly, you can push it pretty hard without having it tip over.
